Formerly a side task for the blockbuster animated film Geng: THE EXPERIENCE Begins, Upin & Ipin was launched on TV9 on 13 September 2007 as a six-episode Ramadan/Eid special, to instruct children the significance of the Islamic holy month. By 2014, the series has already reached its eighth season, including another Ramadan speci season in 2008, and, season three onwards, the year-long, more basic themed Upinipin and Friends, the series' international debut via the Disney Route Asia, with an increase of concentrating on informing the lives of The Twins with the friends on the normal days.
