Actually a side project for the blockbuster cartoon film Geng: The Adventure Takes place, Upin & Ipin was introduced on Television9 on 13 September 2007 as a six-episode Ramadan/Eid special, to instruct children the importance of the Islamic holy month. As of 2014, the series has reached its eighth season, including another Ramadan speci season in 2008, and, season three onwards, the year-long, more basic themed Upinipin and Friends, the series' international debut via the Disney Channel Asia, with an increase of concentrating on showing the lives in the Twins using their friends on the normal days.
