Formerly a side project for the blockbuster animated film Geng: THE EXPERIENCE Takes place, Upin & Ipin was released on Tv set9 on 13 Sept 2007 as a six-episode Ramadan/Eid special, to teach children the importance of the Islamic holy month. As of 2014, the series has already reached its eighth season, including another Ramadan speci season in 2008, and, season three onwards, the year-long, more basic themed Upinipin and Friends, the series' international debut via the Disney Channel Asia, with an increase of concentrating on telling the lives with the Twins using their friends on the standard days.
