Formerly a side project for the blockbuster animated film Geng: THE EXPERIENCE Starts, Upin & Ipin was launched on Tv set9 on 13 September 2007 as a six-episode Ramadan/Eid special, to teach children the importance of the Islamic holy month. As of 2014, the series has already reached its eighth season, including another Ramadan speci season in 2008, and, season three onwards, the year-long, more basic themed Upinipin and Friends, the series' international debut via the Disney Channel Asia, with more concentrating on revealing to the lives of this Twins with the friends on the normal days.
